Multisite to Singlesite For Clients

    I love the how easy it is to setup Multisite on WP3 but I was wondering how to move one of the blogs (in a multisite) to be become a “singlesite” blog.

    For example:

    I have a main WP3 installation that would hold DEMOS as multisites. Once the client test it and approve it I would have to export that DEMO to the client’s host. But it wouldn’t be a multisite anymore, just a single wordpress installation.

    Is there a way to do that?

    I looked at the database and saw that the content for each site is kept separate but a it looks like some of the options aren’t.

    Has anyone tried this?

  • The WordPress Export file created on Multisite uses the same format as single-user WordPress, so you can easily do this. Go to the Backend of the approved blog and export the contents to a WordPress export file (Tools/Export in MU 2.9.2). Then import that file from the single-user blog. You’ll clearly need the same plugins and themes to be available.

    but a it looks like some of the options aren’t.

    the options table is the same, and it holds each blog’s specific options, active plugins, widget setups, etc.

    User tables are global.

    I gave up on that right now. The transition isn’t easy enough. I’m just creating separate installs for now. Thanks

    Hmm. Not exactly resolved.
    I’m trying to figure out how to migrate the “blogs/../files” directory under a multisite install to the ‘uploads’ directory of a single site install. Any tips greatly appreciated!
