Multisite to create an advertisements network

  • Hello, I would like to create a network of advertisements made up of different categories (eg: cars, boats, motorcycles, bicycles, etc.). Each category should have its own separate ambience, customized both as graphics and as services, but which can have a common homepage showing the advertisements posted by advertisers of each section. Is it possible with multisite?

  • It is possible, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it that way.

    Firstly, for whavt you’re looking for, breaking that into several different sites just makes things harder. People have to log into multiple sites if they want to sell things in different categories, and user management is not quite as centralised as you’d need.

    What I think you’d be better off doing is to set up your category and item pages with different templates that can be defined per category. That would let you have indifidual look-and-feel for each section – without the overheads of a Network site.
