    Hi,

I came redirected from other section of the forum as I have a multisite with a subfolder. The thing is that to be free of risk I want to create a site to test changes before I implement them on the real one.

I found out that this tutorial seems to be good (https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/wordpress/duplicate-wordpress-site-for-testing), there it says to:

    1. create new subdomain and copy folders from site 1 to site test
    2. change the wp-config from 1 to test, and look for files with site 1 name and change to site test

I have created a new subdomain and installed a new wordpress. I guess I need to make it multisite first? Then copy the files from site 1 and paste in site test and then rename the files with site test and change the wp-config?

Which is the suggestion to have this testing site on the subdomain? Will it be enough if the site is without content but with similar structure or better have the exact same one to see if any changes happens after modifications (plugins,..).

    Thanks

    Hi again,

Any advise to have a testing site for a multilingual site?

    Thanks

You are always better off testing updates on the full set of content, so I would suggest using something like Duplicator to create a copy of your site in a new subdirectory.

You have to copy the files, as well as the database, and then make sure that the configurations and URL’s are all set properly. The Duplicator plugin will do this for you.

Alternatively, you can use a hosting provider that has the ability to create a “staging” copy of your site for you, where you can test updates before taking them live.
