• My boss has asked me to post on here in the hopes that you might be able to help us. This was the first time, for everyone, using WordPress or any CMS for that matter. We created the site knowing we would need at least 3 separate websites under the same name, https://www.lc-tech.com. We wanted the LC Tech site to go to a “Portal” page that then went into a “Mac” and “PC” page.

We started creating the “PC” side on an IP address (https://174.141.28.24) then created two subfolders called “Mac” and “Portal” (https://174.141.28.24/mac and https://174.141.28.24/portal) in the hopes of eventually switching the IP address to our current website (www.lc-tech.com). Creating these subfolders allowed us to input different information on these two pages.

Here is the problem we have created: We need the portal page to become https://www.lc-tech.com and have mac/pc become https://www.lc-tech.com/pc and /mac. I have no idea how to go about this since the current IP goes to PC side and the sub folders are Mac/Portal. I tried switching the folders around and it just messed everything up.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Yeah, you should have made the PORTAL page the main IP, and then made the PC/Macs as your subsites.

    I would do this.

    1) Make a subsite called PC
    2) Export from the main site and into PC
    3) Wipe out the main site (the one that WAS PC)
    4) Export from portal into the main site.
    5) delete the portal site.

    Hello Ipstenu,

    Thank you for the response!

I have exported the “PC” side to the new /pc sub site. The only thing is my theme settings, menu, images, sliders, etc. did not import with it – is that right?

I copied the folder over so it is identical to the original. Looks like plugins have to be reconfigured as well? Oi vey.

I am also having one hell of a time with “pretty links” as we do not use Apache, we use Windows Server IIS6.

I have researched on the ISAPIRewrite 3 method but the tech guys do not know how to properly set it up.

Sadly, yes. That doesn’t come over.

And pretty permalinks in IIS6 are a pain. You can google around, as people have managed to do it.
