Just installed a brand new copy of WordPress to enable multisite. I’ve been using WordPress since like 2005 for my own website. So I’m not exactly a novice, though there is a fair amount I simply haven’t needed…

Anyway, it’s installed in the docroot (index.php resides in /home/siteuser/public_html) and I enabled wildcard subdomains.

    The main site: scriptersblogs.com
I created a test site at adamh.scriptersblogs.com and it almost works. If I switch over to the user’s dashboard (adamh.scriptersblogs.com/wp-admin) it works perfectly. But try to go to just adamh.scriptersblogs.com (ie click “Visit Site” from within the dashboard) I get the cPanel Default Web Site Page.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like your subdomains aren’t working correctly. With a working wildcard, going to ANYTHING.scriptersblogs.com should take you to scriptersblogs.com

If I go to https://foobar.scriptersblogs.com/ it kicks me back (correctly) to https://scriptersblogs.com/wp-signup.php?new=foobar

Did you perhaps have a named subdomain for adamh? Or a folder named that in /home/siteuser/public_htm/

That is a possibility. I’ll do some playing around with it.

    Thanks.

I do have my own website on the same server at adamh.us, but it’s not even on the same account. So I don’t know how that would work. There is no directory named adamh in the /home/siteuser/ directory at all anywhere.

As far as I can tell on adamh.scriptersblogs.com, it looks fine.

adamh.scriptersblogs.com/wp-login.php and adamh.scriptersblogs.com/wp-admin/ both show the expected URL.

All I can guess is you have some odd caching.

Okay, it works on the desktop now. It wasn’t working on my netbook.. I’ll have to check that again and see. It might be DNS cache on that one.

Thanks for the assistance in any case. ??

DNS catch is the most likely culprit ??
