Can anybody help me. have been trying for hours. have re-installed many times. added to config file many times. i don’t know why it wont work

it doesnt show the install page at all. just “Warning: Please deactivate your plugins before enabling the Network feature.”

  • Make sure there are no plugins in the ‘Must Use’ folder either.

hi thanks for your reply. sorry, where is the ‘must use’ folder?
In WebFTP or on the WordPress dashboard?
    Thanks

hi i deleted all the plug ins in the mu-plugins folder but then i couldnt log in to my site. maybe because one of the plug ins was for dreamhost login.

so i had to delete the site and re-install it with wordpress.

i put the multisite code again in the config folder and the network set up still doesnt show an install button. same as before.

do i have to wait a few hours for it to work?

    thanks for any advice ??

I’m not sure why a plugin would affect your ability to log in? I think it’s time for your web host to help you out a bit.

The normal multisite setup is to deactivate all plugins, add the code to cause the multisite ‘install’ to be available, run the install, add the htaccess directives and anything WordPress wants added to the config file. then turn the plugins back on via the dashboard…

There is something in your setup on your host which we can’t see so your host should be able to help you.

Sometimes, you need to ask the host several different times over several hours to find that one support rep who can help you. It’s not that the other reps are the problem either. It’s just the different reps might see things differently.

Many thanks for your reply. I’m with Dreamhost and they said specifically they won’t help with any multisite questions. I’ve got 2 other sites I set up with multisite hosted by them that work fine. But on this most recent site I can’t seem to install multisite because there is still 1 plugin active on this new site that i am not able to deactivate. I don’t how to find it or how to deactivate it.

I will contact Dreamhost and ask them advice on disabling my plugins
