• Hi all,
I’ve got wp 3.0 Multisite with 10 pages using Sub-directories and classipress theme (https://appthemes.com/) installed.

    1) For some reason in my super admin/permalink, only for first page, I have /blog permanently showing which is unchangeable and for permalink I’m using /%postname%/

Everything is fine as long as I do not hit “Save Changes” button for my permalink, then I get e.g. https://www.mysite.com/blog/postname.

    2) In my Super Admin/Sites panel I can see my 10 sites but for some reason 2 is missing (1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11)

    My site address is https://www.myrestaurants.com.au

This is my first wp multisite installation and I’m not really sure what I’ve done wrong.

Thanks a lot for any help.
    Marcin

  • You haven’t done anything wrong.

1 – known issue. you picked subdirectories, so to avoid conflicts with permalinks between pages and other blog names, the /blog/ is stuffed in the main blog only.

2 – did you make a second site then delete it? really, the numbers are only used internally.

    Hi Andrea,

Thank you for the explanation, you saved my life because I was just about to re-install the whole network from the beginning ??

I understand I have to change /blog/%postname%/ to /%postname%/ everytime I hit save changes in my Permalink Settings.

    Thanks
P.s. for future reference, do you think it’s better to instal wp multisite using sub-domains or sub-directories?

do you think it’s better to instal wp multisite using sub-domains or sub-directories?

It depends. One is not better than the other, they serve different purposes.

I have a different problem. My domain is configured for sub-domains but I can’t get permalinks to work. I fear it is a combination of bad settings in htaccess , httpd.conf , and httpd-vhosts.conf

    What’s your .htaccess content?

If the subdomain itself is showing up, then your httpd.conf Should be okay.
