hello and thanks for this great plugin. I use the free version for cloning inside MU networks, but would like to know if you are planning on supporting connecting multiple networks and cloning from one to another.

Let me give you a simple scenario, involving moving a site between two multisite installs.

Imaging having two multisite networks in different servers, one for development and another for live production sites.

During development, a site is created in the development network and fine tuned. When ready (or approved by the customer, if such is the case), the site is moved from the development multisite network to the production multisite network, located in a faster server with all the CDN bells and whistles. It is then mapped to a domain using the MU domain mapping plugin.

Right now, to do that one has to make sure the relevant plugins and themes are in both networks and then have to export content+widgets from the dev network and import into a site in the production network and reconfigure all the theme’s and plugins settings. It’s OK with standard wordpress sites, it’s a pain whenever there are plugins or themes customizations (for example, layer slider or themeforest themes).

My question is, what if your plugin could do that? Cloning to another network just like it does today within the same network (probably, with the plugin also installed there and having them comunicating somehow) or creating some kind of tarball to import/export in the other newtork.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Thank you very much for your input and ideas. This is actually a functionality we have talked about quite a bit, but it’s a HUGE effort. We’re in the middle of a big push to completely rebuild this plugin to support an add-on structure so that we can build other major features like network-to-network cloning. That might be a ways off though yet. Many factors to consider in all that. But really appreciate your feedback.
