I have a huge mess. I have been using WordFence very happily on just one of my blogs. I was about to add it to others when I decided to move everything to a different webhost. In many ways, this is a blessing as I am now able to do a fresh multisite install instead of 7 different blogs with stuff scattered everywhere.

Things were going fine until I activated WordFence. After that I could not get any of the dashboards to work until I deactivated the plugin for the entire network. The plug-in is installed in the network main content directory. I love WordFence and honestly don’t want to run the multisite network without it. I am on the verge of going premium here. I was just waiting until I got this migration done.

My thinking right now is that I will get all of the other backend stuff done (themes, other plugins, restoring the posts)

So, how do I fix this?

  • Hi needlesong,
I run several WordPress multisite installations with Wordfence without any problem, please make sure you installed and activated the plugin on the Network Admin plugin installation page and don’t try to activate the plugin on every single site on the Network, check this part of Wordfence documentation for more details.

Also, please let me know exactly the problems you encountered within your installation? how exactly you “could not get any of the dashboards to work”?

    Thanks.
