• I am trying to figure out the best way to map top-level domains to my WP multisite subdirectories; eg. site1.com to domain.com/site1

The last time I setup a WordPress multisite I had to use the plugin WordPress MU Domain Mapping. However in setting up this new WP multisite I saw in the Codex for WordPress Multisite Domain Mapping that,

Before WordPress 4.5, domain mapping requires a domain mapping plugin like WordPress MU Domain Mapping.

In WordPress 4.5+, domain mapping is a native feature.

If domain mapping is now native, how do I go about setting it up? I have multisite functionality working, but can’t find anything about mapping domains without using the MU Domain Mapping plugin.

  • Just add an addon domain in your cpanel and point it to the same folder as the multisite and then change the site URL of the sub-site in the edit site screen.

i worked for me but on login to dashboard i got a message for cookies that are not enabled. Do you have any advice for that?
