• Recently I had to reset the .htaccess file on my website due to some bizarre 404 error with WordPress permalinks and GoDaddy hosting. The main site finally works fine now after I replaced the .htaccess file with a fresh one from WP’s suggestion of a multisite file (the file GoDaddy had generated did not have any of the proper WP rewrites in it). Any and all sub-sites (set up as subdirectory) will not display media files, including when I make a completely new Site. Old media files that worked previously don’t display on the front end or backend and any new files uploaded just display the broken image icon.

I read about changing configurations so that the site is pointing to the correct folders, but these weren’t changed recently so I’m not sure what needs to happen. I did update the site network to the latest WP though. I’ve tried changing the file path for:

    -Upload Url Path
    – Upload Path
    -Fileupload Url

But I can’t seem to get the path right. What’s more is that I’m not sure the Database is acknowledging these changes as I’ve changed the path names to nonsensical things just to try and see if changes are happening in the <img> source tags and nothing changes on the front end.

The site address is https://botchedspot.com/over-like-olav/ and the majority of the images are in comic format:
    https://botchedspot.com/over-like-olav/comic/olav-vs-the-news-part-6/
    https://botchedspot.com/over-like-olav/comic/olav-vs-the-news-part-5/
    https://botchedspot.com/over-like-olav/comic/rad-bad-the-veteran/

What am I doing wrong? Is there anything else I need to put in the .htaccess file or change about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I am having the same issues. Images broken in back and front end, old and new. This is throughout the multisite sites. plugins are deactivated. no major changes just before this started. It seems like a programmatical issue.
