Multisite as subdomains and 'real' subdomains

  • Sorry if this has been answered before, I couldnt quite find it.

    I want to install WP as subdomain multisite environment.

    ie.
    https://www.mysite.com
    blog1.mysite.com
    blog2.mysite.com
    etc

    But I already have sub domains set up for other purposes would like to create others. These have other applications installed.
    ie
    project.mysite.com
    support.mysite.com

  • If your server lets you use subdomain names I do not see reason why it will not work as sub domain after all redirected to folder.

    I have dedicated virtual machine.

    Does this mean that any sub domain which does not have its own dedicated dns setting withh automatically default to www, it then gets picked up by wordpress and send to the right blog (or a 404 page)?

    You can have BOTH subdomains handled by WP AND subdomains normally.

    For project.mysite.com just make sure those subdomain calls are ABOVE the wildcard call in your httpd.conf
