    Hello,

It is about a multisite WP, where the subsites are language variants (de and en).

There is an issue with the country list language. It is nice to see the list of countries in the admin setting language. It should be translated into the website language, but is not.
So, when being a german admin, I see the german list and the german country name is displayed on the english page. And if I switch to english in the admin language, I see the list in english and it is displayed in english.
BUT: I have to reselect it, there is no matching. Changing the language of the admin user deselects the country when editing the venue..

    WP: 5.9.3
    Events Version: 5.14.2.1

  • Hi @wpblogwriter

Please check out the following articles as I think they may prove useful:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/translation-basics/
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/incomplete-translations/
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/creating-translations-for-events-using-wpml/

It should be noted that multisite support for translations is limited to there may be elements on subsites that you need to manually translate with template overrides. The articles above should help you with that as well.

Please let us know if this does not help.

    Hello Top Hat,

I think you misunderstood the issue.

    There is no translation plugin.

One subsite is set to german and one is set to english. It is what I would call a “natural multilang wordpress installation”.

Thee country list is available in both languages. It is just that it looks like you do not match the ID/Key of the select field for country list, but directly the value. So that the issue is when the country list in the backend is in german (because that is the admin language) the country name is displayed in german in the frontend of the english subsite.

But if I switch the admin language to english and edit the venue again, then the english name is used.

But switching the admin language makes the selected country (when at first selected in german) unselected as there is no match anymore (as you don’t use the key but the value to make the match – at least it looks like that).

    Best regards,
    WBW

    Hi @wpblogwriter

Yes, I am afraid I did misunderstand. I am sorry about that. But I think I get it now.

So i set up 2 sandbox environments to test this. One was a stand-alone site the other a multisite network. I was not able to replicate the issue in the stand-alone site, but was able to do so in multi-site. This confirms by belief that the issue is something with Multisite compatibility.

Unfortunately, that is as far as I have been able to get. I have reached out to a colleague to see if I can get some insight and will update you here is we figure anything out. Please note that as this is free support, there may be some delays in response.
