I just updated our site to version 4.9.2.
I noticed that I now have two wp-content folders.
One where it has been and a second one as a sub-folder in wp-includes folder.
I need to update all of the plugins on our site as they all are not running the latest versions.
I am not sure which folder to update>
Any suggestions would be appreciated as the update feature has been unavailable on our dashboard for over a year now and I do not want to create a bunch of problems overwriting the wrong files.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

before proceeding with any adjustments to organization of items in folder(s)

    create a backup copy of
    -database
-all files related to your site (i.e. WP-Content, WP-admin, WP-includes. WP config etc)

be sure you have access to restore + re-upload database and all files

what folders/files are showing in each of the wp-content folders?

I always run an Updraft Plus back up before doing anything to the site.
The folders in the “Original” wp-content folder are as follows:
    aiowps_backups
    cache
    plugins
    themes
    updraft
    upgrade
    uploads
    w3tc-config
    wflogs
    wptouch-data

The sub-floders in the wp-content folder under wp-includes are
a blank folder with all information hidden
    plugins
    an idex.php file
    and 8 temp-test-write files

Since both wp-content folders contain the exact same plugins folder information
I am not sure which folder WordPress is pulling the information from.
The site is currently operational. However I do need to update every plugin manually.

step 1-make a backup and be sure you know how to restore it

step 2-can you rename of the plugin folders as plugins-old to see if it resolves situation–be prepared—this action may deactivate all active plugins if you rename the folder that has the active plugins.
might help you identify which of the plugin folders to keep
(plugins should not be in wp-includes folder)

I figured out which was the correct folder.
Still puzzled by why there was an extra folder in wp-includes.
