When my user places an order, they get no confirmation on the screen but the order has been placed. Because the user gets no feedback, they click place order again. Also, the order confirmation in woo commerce does not send to the admin or the shopper. The receipt email from stripe does send.

This started happening after the latest WP update.

I thought I should try and update the stripe gateway plugin but I get this error when trying to update the plugin.

Update failed: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN”> 503 Service Unavailable Service Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Then my site gets stuck in maintenance mode and I have to delete the .maintenance file.

Please let me know what I can try to fix this.

    Thanks,
    Eric

    Hi Eric @lanceowners,

    Thank you for reaching out.

If I understand you correctly, it seems that you’re facing 2 issues in your store. The first being that when customers place orders, they’re not being re-directed to the thank-you page and the second being the error you’re encountering when updating the Stripe Gateway plugin. Is that correct?

As a first step, please ensure that your WooCommerce email notifications are enabled so that once an order is placed, the customer can get an email notification. Secondly, please navigate to?WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Checkout endpoints?and make sure that the?Order received?has the?order-received?endpoint listed correctly.

Update failed: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN”> 503 Service Unavailable Service Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

As for the second issue, the error message you’re receiving is a general server error. This might be due to your server being temporarily overloaded. I would recommend waiting for a while and trying again later. If the problem continues, you might want to contact your hosting provider for assistance.

    I hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for responding. I found the solution. They were both the same problem. The thank you page not loading and the plugin not updating due to 503 were all related to being too many versions of PHP behind. Once I updated the PHP version, all the broken things started working again.

    Thanks, for the help.
