Multiple Scoring Systems

  • I have been using SP with my hockey league’s regular season with great success. During the regular season, We use a standard 2 point scoring system (2 points win, 1 point tie).
    We have postseason tournaments coming up but I’ve been doing the standings manually outside of SP because I’m not quite sure how to set it up properly. My tournaments use the 5 point scoring system (1 pt each period won, 0.5 pt each period tied, 2 points win, 1 point tie). I know how to configure the columns to get the proper calculations, but how do I properly set up the tournaments to use this scoring system without screwing up my existing league tables for the regular season?

    Additionally, during the regular season my teams are sorted by an Average number of points since sometimes teams have played 5 games while another team has completed 10. For the tournament I need them sorted by total tournament points earned.

    Hi!

    My name is Roch and I’m going to help you with your support issues.

    In your case I believe the easiest fix would be creating different event results for the tournament half times. So you’d add tournament first half and tournament second half in addition to your current event results.

    Then your points formula would be something like this:
    current formula (we don’t need to change it) + tournament half won + tournament half tied / 2

    This may be a little different from your setup (as I’m looking at a soccer setup right now), but this may give you a good starting point.

    Another solution would be using different event outcomes (tournament win, tie, loss) if you want a completely separated win count.
