  • I would also like to know the answer to this inconvenience.

You ( mchiampa ) posted this question 10 months ago… and nobody replied?

This is annoying the HELL out of me. Why are the stars ratings “linked / connected”? Stars Ratings should

      automatically

by default be independent when inserted, regardless. Every time.

I have multiple stars ratings in a single page / single post, and all are automatically linked. If I click on 1 thing to vote for it, it automatically affects all the other star rating boxes which are on the same page. I have 7 stars ratings on the same page, voting for 1 of them makes the votes go up for all of them.

This is stupid nonsense, and there doesn’t seem to be an option to make all ratings INDEPENDENT by default on insertion.

I hope somebody can reply with some advice about this issue. I really do like kk Star Ratings a lot, I’ve been using it for about 1 year. It also looks very nice and good customizing options. I don’t want to be forced to look for another similar, different plugin. That would be inconvenient and a waste of time.

    Thanks

    Problem solved!

To use multiple Stars Vote boxes on the same page and have the ratings be independent, you need to set a unique ID to each insertion of kk Star Ratings.

If you use multiple on same page ” [kkstarratings] ” then you need to do it like this:

    [kkstarratings id=123Wordpress] or [kkstarratings id=123anytitlehere].

For some reason it does not work proper for me IF the id name does not start with a number. If I put a number such as “123” in front of the id title, it works great.

I hope this will help other people.

    Correction:

I’ve now realized it only seems to work with Numbers. It does not recognize any writing after the number.

Example, if 2 Stars Vote boxes are inserted on the same page and are titled:

    [kkstarratings id=123Wordpress] and [kkstarratings id=123anytitlehere]

If you vote and give a star to either on of them, it will automatically add an extra star to the other one too as soon as the page is reloaded.

I’ve even tried to “trick it” by having it start with a number, then some text in between and adding a number at the end… as in: [kkstarratings id=123Wordpress123].

It only seems to work with Numbers as id. That’s very inconvenient because if the same id number is entered 2 or more times, by accident, it will “link” those 2 ratings together. It would be better if text can be mixed with numbers to easily create unique id’s.

    Hello

Only integers are accepted as the ID. This is the id of the post and posts are unique due to its post id. There is no need for text.

FYI: The ratings work ONLY for posts (/pages).

Also a single star rating can be applied to a single post. No feature for multiple ratings for a single post at the moment.
