multiple private blogs

To start with, I’m still considering whether or not use wordpress and I have not actually installed the program yet.

I need to have a structure something like the following:

https://mysite.com/ public with user register and updated hot links snippets to public access reads.

https://mysite.com/editor-1-blog/ private with assigned editors to view and comment.

https://mysite.com/project-1/ private with assigned editors to view and edit (modify the content).

https://mysite.com/public-release-1/ public with registered user comments.

Can wordpress handle this type of structure, and if so, are there any in depth articles covering these types of needs?
