Hi @bosman50 ,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
What you’re describing— where the checkout doesn’t complete properly in Microsoft Edge and loops back to the “Checkout Details” page with a new order number. It often happens when there’s a communication glitch between the browser, PayPal, and WooCommerce. Since it’s working in Chrome, we can narrow it down to something specific to Edge.
This could be a browser compatibility issue. Edge sometimes handles redirects or script execution differently. A quick fix you can try is clearing the cache and cookies in Edge. Also, testing in an InPrivate window could help rule out extensions interfering.
If you still experience the problem, it’s worth checking if this happens on all versions of Edge or just a specific one. Please also check the browser console tab for errors to see if there are any related issues being reported.
Additionally, I suggest temporarily switching to the default Storefront theme and deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and the PayPal Payment Gateway plugin. Then, test the checkout in Edge. If it works, reactivate your theme and plugins one by one to identify the culprit.
It would also help us review your current System Status Report to gain more insight into your setup. You can find this report in your WooCommerce dashboard by going to WooCommerce > Status. From there, please select Get system report and then Copy for support.
If there are any fatal error logs, please share those as well. These can be accessed under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
Once you’ve gathered this information, please paste it into a code block in your reply or use pastebin.com and share the link with us.
Please check and let us know.
