• I want to preface this by saying I’m a complete wordpress newbie. I’m trying to set up a wordpress site for a business that provides a service at customers homes. There will be multiple locations and we need for a customer to be able to fill in their zip code and for that person to automatically be matched to the appropriate location.

I’ve tried various versions of “multiple location management wordpress” google searches with no luck. Most of what I see is related to managing multiple wordpress sites. Not managing different locations. I’ve also seen plugins that help users find your closest location but that’s not exactly what we need.

Does anyone have recommendations here for solutions to manage multiple locations like this? Plugins, tools, systems, services, advice, etc.?

We’d also like to be able to set up a few locations (or even one at first) and then add more locations as needed with minimal fuss.

    Thank you in advance!

  • How about just setting up one site for your whole operation and then add a menu item called locations with a drop down for a few locations. Those locations would refer to a single page for each location.

You can build pages for the various parts of your company like contact info, pricing, availability and products or services… whatever your offerings are.

Your individual locations pages would then just contain the few differences. Address, phone number, contact info, etc.

Getting started will probably suggest better ideas as you go along.

Thank you for your response! I may end up taking this advice. Like everything with a client, it will depend on how they feel. In the meantime, I’m just trying to collect ideas. This might work though. I’ll have to fool around with it…

The more I think about it the more I think we may have issues with this approach. If we expand to very many locations it could get messy pretty fast. The ability to expand by adding new locations quickly is a high priority for this client. If at all possible I need to start in a way that makes this smooth later.

In addition, they may just have their hearts set on people being able to enter their zip codes and then being matched based on that. Sometimes people can’t get exactly what they want, but I’d like to try.

I’m open to this suggestion, but I’m looking for others as well. (Thank you again)

I found something almost exactly like what we want to do.

The customer puts their zip code in and is matched with the nearest location.

Are there any guesses as to how this was done?

    Thanks!
