Hi there, I’ve just done an update to Version 6.4 and have had a number of issues.

    1) Once activated all Jetpack settings I had working reset, which meant having to go through and turning everything I wanted functioning on (again). This has led me to be reluctant to update other clients sites in case I have to do the same.

    2) The Facebook and Twitter settings in Widgets have gone. They haven’t just defaulted and been removed from the sidebar as I normally use them so I have to set them up again, they are gone from the available widgets I can use. Social media functionality on the site is a must as my clients also update their social media with additional pieces which during touring and other promo is really important for my clients and their fans.

    3) I seem to have lost the ability to set up a slideshow gallery which means I am having to go into a number of pages on my clients sites to make galleries we have, work in a way that is aesthetic to the site. After only last month uploading a brand new build for one of my clients, it’s frustrating to see a part of that hard work undone.

I can not give my sites on a public forum due to the clients I represent. I am happy to do this on email to a member of the Jetpack team if required.

    Hi there,

Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the trouble!

First off, could you please update Jetpack to 6.4.1 and see if things get better this way?

We’re also happy to look into the issues you reported in more depth, provided you can share your URL here at least privately.

Hi Stef @erania-pinnera thank you for the reply.

I’ve updated to 6.4.1 and this has not helped. The only good thing was it did not reset the Jetpack settings I had to reset yesterday.

In the Widget area, many of the specialist Jetpack widgets are not there at all. I’ve done a comparison between the client who’s Jetpack I updated and the client who’s Jetpack I have not because of the issues I have with client no.1. Here’s a list of what is missing from client no.1 (please note I’ve also done a side by side comparison of the settings on both clients sites and I can not see that I have left out or not turned something on):

    Missing:
    Authors (Jetpack)
    Blog Stats (Jetpack)
    Blog Subscriptions (Jetpack)
    Contact Info & Map (Jetpack)
    Cookies & Consent Banner (Jetpack)
    Display WordPress Posts (Jetpack)
    Facebook Page Plugin (Jetpack)
    Facebook Page Plugin (Jetpack)
    Flickr (Jetpack)
    Goodreads (Jetpack)
    Google _ Badge (Jetpack)
    Google Translate (Jetpack)
    Gravatar Profile (Jetpack)
    Internet Defense League (Jetpack)
    MailChimp Subscriber Popup (Jetpack)
    Milestone (Jetpack)
    My Community (Jetpack)
    RSS Links (Jetpack)
    Social Icons (Jetpack)
    Top Posts & Pages (Jetpack)
    Twitter Timeline (Jetpack)
    Upcoming Events (Jetpack)

I think the idea is clear here. Anything that is a Jetpack Widget is now missing. Obviously I don’t use all of these widgets but there are a few I do because of the ease of use via Jetpack. Spent a horrible amount of time yesterday trying to get the new Facebook Widget working on my site (direct from FB) – it’s a horrible and clunky way of doing social media.

I will send an email to you re this to give you my clients website address – I’m grateful for you guys respecting this privacy.

It’s sad as for the most part I rarely get issues with Jetpack, but this is very weird and obviously something has gone wrong for it to be eliminating things.

I am going to send the debug info too.

Fingers crossed this can get fixed soon.

    Hi Stef @erania-pinnera

    A follow-up.

I think I may have figured this. I started to do a debug and realised that when I saw the bit on the initial page where it says: “Access the full list of Jetpack modules available on your site.” and upon clicking, that as the other settings had reset so had all the activations for the complete list of modules. So I’ve turned them back on and I can see everything again.

I do think something needs looking at just in case especially considering the fact that the update to 6.4 caused a complete reset of all settings – happy to help privately on that if you need.

I will keep this open until I’m sure this as been resolved.

    Hi Stef @erania-pinnera

So happy to report things are now as they should be on client no.1’s site.

Still a little nervous about activating the update on my second clients site but at least I know now, if it does do the same, I’m more aware of what has gone haywire and can fix it a lot easier.
