Multiple Issues on 2.9, but is it 2.9?

  • Can anyone tell me if this sounds familiar to you:

    -Publishing, though successful, gives me a blank page in response.

    -Adding links gives me a blank response page.

    -My control panel widget / windows disappear from the right side.

    -My websites right side columns disappear at times.

    -Images load, but don’t center, if they show up. (The web uploader cooperates)

    -At times, if Firefox stops working, I use Internet Explorer. When both stop, I use Google Chrome. (Yes, WP is selectively not working with browsers)

    -At times, my login.php page does not come up and I can’t get in. (If that happens, see above bullet)

    -My ‘quick edit’ buttons for posts does not work.

    -Visitors do not encounter issues (As far as I can tell) with the exception of my right farthest most column disappearing when things start to act up.)
    -Right panels in my admin section disappear.
    And various other little bits.

    The ODDNESS? It works near flawlessly during the day, and starts to degrade as the evening goes on. (Or maybe, as I use the system over a period of time?)

    I’m getting certifiable I tell ya!

    WP: Just upgraded to 2.9.1. It looked like it did the trick, but then things started coming back.

    Any thoughts, suggestions or links to any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • It sounds like it maybe an issue with your server/host. What version of PHP are you running? What is the PHP memory limit of your server/host? Do you have any bandwidth or transfer caps?

    This might help you dig deeper into your issue on why your site maybe unstable.

    Thanks Anthony… I’ll look at those parameters and see what I come up with! (I have to wait until lunch break to “play” with WP!)

    I’m using PHP Version 5.1.6,
    PHP memory_limit 32M
    I don’t believe I have bandwidth of transfer caps.
    mysql: Client API version 5.0.77
    ~
    What else could be causing these issues?

    Question to anyone out there:

    If I want to go back to 2.8.4, but this is a clean install of 2.9.*, how do I go about this, if no one has a reasonable idea to help me on my way?

    Do I just save the DB, do a wipe of the install and start over?

    I mean, that’s how up against a wall I am. I’m losing time and traffic trying to diagnose something I know nothin’ about! I think the term is arg.
