Hi, I’ve had a look around the forum and I just can’t find what I’m looking for.

I’m very new to all this so please be patient,

I have inherited the upkeep of a wordpress install. There are four different installs of wordpress on the site, with individual logins and now the structure of the site is supposed to change.
    Each one is in a sub-directory(i think) … site.com/subsite
I have no idea whether a real wordpress multisite has been installed or whether it has been done through another system as the “sites” admin panel does not appear.

What I want to do is change the structure so that each wordpress install remains separate but is embedded into a page on the parent site. Essentially I want three separate blogs on one site, but each one should keep the separate install as I need different user permissions for each.

I am terrified of doing anything major as I have inherited the site and don’t want to muck it up!

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Rachel

If they are 4 separate sites with 4 separate logins, they are not MultiSite.

FWIW, user permissions on multisite are per-site for the most part, so you can keep user permissions different and have one admin for all of them.

If you want to stay on your current setup, and given that you probably have users, that’s not a bad thing, you’ll need to import the posts from your other sites via RSS or such to bring them to the main site.

If you want to switch to MultiSite, let us know, otherwise, I’ll move this out to the general help forum ??

    Thanks!
    That’s very helpful.

I’ll look into it and the RSS feed idea. I had thought that I would need to create posttopage pages and link them to the other sites, but I think that sounds easier,
    Thanks again
