• Ok, so brand new user to wordpress

I’ve (with help) managed to get the software running and everything works. However, I was asked to do a multiple install, i.e. two separate blogs on the same parent site. I had the clever idea of simply copying over the files from the working directory to the other without the install.

Everything went fine and I can log in and edit, however, the installations are linked. Everything I change on one also changes on the other. Obviously either copy/paste doesn’t work for this purpose, or I did something wrong. How do I get them to run separately?

How can I fix this? I’m not sure how to do the install my self since the server owner optimized some of it himself, and it’s far beyond my knowledge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • And you downloaded WordPress from this?

Sounds like you are either using WordPress MU or you are using the alpha version of 3.0 as WordPress 2.9.1 doesn’t ask about multiple installs.

    It’s 2.9.1

The multiple installs was intended to run two separate blogs off the same website. At least, this is how it was assumed to do this, since there doesn’t seem to be a way to set up multiple, separate, blogs on the same site through the admin tools.
