!Multiple installations – Advice on subdirectory / or WPUS

  • I have a nice big server and I can use up to 5 MYSQLs.
    Right now, I need just one wordpress website but in the futur, I might
    want to create another website using wordpress.

    When installing wordpress it asks me if I want to install WP in a subdirectory. Do you think I should use a new subdirectory every time I install new WP? OR Can I just do all the installation of WP in the main directory? I think this could cause some conflict. What do you think?

    One more. If I plan to have more WP websites on my server would you recommend that I use WP MU ?

  • It all depends. You have to consider different things.

    As far as I understand (and please correct me if I’m wrong):
    – if you want to have different domains, you have to install several WPs
    – if you want one domain with subdomains or sub-directories, WPMU will cut it

    This is just the first consideration, I think.
