Occasionally this happens when there is a glitch on your server and the same task is repeated rapidly in a short space of time.

The entire internet email system is designed to ensure delivery and it is therefore considered more acceptable to deliver multiple times rather than not at all.

One thing to check if you are able is the ‘Message-ID’ header in the emails. Are they all the same or are they different. This gives an indication if the same email was sent multiple times or if several emails were generated.

Also, are you using a SMTP plugin on your blog? Such plugins channel your email via an email server rather than using your webserver. This tends to result in fewer duplicates like this.

The Message-IDs were all different ones.
We do not use a SMTP plugin on the blog.

Only 1 Subscriber receives multiple mails.

In that case I’d suggest you start using an SMTP plugin to avoid this happening again. I use Configure SMTP without problems:

There are other plugins available but I find this one simple and effective.
