I have one site that’s on the verge of filling my 100mb database limit with my host, I can set up to 25 db’s with this hosting service but am not sure if I can attach multiple db’s to my wordpress installation. I’m currently erasing posts (I know this is a no no but I need the space) currently up to 6,000 posts and counting. How can I work around this without having to upgrade my hosting package? Can I add another db or two to a current site?

  • Don’t know that that is possible. Might consider finding a new host.

Sortof weird that you can set up 25 databases but are limited to 100mb each… You know, I’m sure this is possible but you’d have to interrupt a lot of core WP functions to do it. I can’t imagine that it is worth it. It would be several orders of magnitude easier to move everything to a new host.

Oh hell no my hosting service wants to raise my month to month cost from $7 to $49 for the luxury of expanding my database limit..even though I can use 25 100mb databases they won’t allow me to combine two to create one of 200mb size

After finding a new host, review Moving WordPress. Backup your database and files at that host NOW! See WordPress Backups.

    Yeah, no kidding.

Oh i’m using the DB back up plugin so I have weekly updates of my db’s..it would just be nice if wordpress gave us the options of combining databases.
