    Hi,

I don’t see anything wrong with the tracking code on your site. It’s recording a visit per page load as expected. Is it that you’re actually getting that many hits?

Another thing to check by looking at your logs is if this page has a larger set of hits from spam / bots that load the page?

    Hi,
not as much hits as the day before but the plug-in still measures a lot more visits than our piwik tracking code. No other blogpost on the Website is showing this strange behaviour.

I’m not familiar with piwik, but do they exclude non-unique visitors? Top 10 doesn’t do that as it tracks all loads

piwik differentiates between unique and non-unique vistors. strangely enough the issue is only with the latest post linked above. All others seem to count in accordance with piwik. It is the first post published after our switch from http to https, from PHP 5.4 to 7.0 and MySQL 5.1 to 5.5. Maybe it has something to do with these changes.

One thing worth trying is temporarily putting in another stats plugin or services like google analytics which would help you determine counts as an alternative?

It’s a bit strange: Now the pugin stopped working completely. First I had to reset the daily popular posts in settings regularly to keep them tracking. Now the counting almost stopped. Only a few randomly picked posts are showing up during the day.

For a weird reason your site is showing a security failed error. This is because the nonce check is failing.

Can you try resetting the settings in the Top 10 settings page and checking if it works?

Another option would be a full reinstall. I suggest backing up the wp_top_ten and wp_top_ten_daily tables in your database first.

Resetting the settings didn’t help. Neither did a full reinstall. I deleted everything and reinstalled the plug-in from scratch. Result: Top Ten has been counting 77 views so far – of many thousand according to my web stats. I spent hours now to get this plug-in back to work. Without any success. Maybe I should give up.

It could be a clash with another plugin probably a caching or security one.

One thing worth trying is changing the tracker type within the settings page to the Query option.
