73 pages on a site I have been asked to work on are showing up as having multiple canonicals. The Devs do not know how this has happened and say it must be being caused by Yoast. Has anyone come across this before or have any idea how to fix it? The Canonicals are self referencing but still being flagged by every SEO audit tool I try as an issue so I’d like to get rid of the doubling up if there is a way. Thanks

Yoast SEO will output a single canonical meta tag. The additional canonical meta tag on the example page provided is outside of the Yoast meta data which means that something else in your setup outputs the canonical.

Please rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.
