Hi, I’m back again. I know this has been covered a few times, but its not sinking in my thick head.

My host is godaddy. Two different domains, two different hosts. I had godaddy install WP, but needed to upgrade (do I have to upgrade? I think they originally put 2.5 on).

First blog is fine. Second blog, I just deleted everything that godaddy did, and installed it from my external drive. Using the same files I used for the first blog.

When I go to my homepage of the second blog, it takes me to the first blog’s domain.

If I installed it from harddrive, which was downloaded from WP, why would it direct me to the first domain? I don’t remember putting any identifiable information into any files when I downloaded it?

Two totally different blogs, one is adult and one is weight loss.

    Who is the other host?

Look in the wp-config.php file and see what database it’s calling to.

    OK, I said that wrong..

Godaddy is the same host, but its two different accounts.

And, AHA, I had to change the config file (smacks self in head, I did put identifiable stuff there duh!). So, would I now have to make a second config file, and upload that one instead?

Ugh, so simple I feel like an idjut. LOL thank you!

    (clarification)

    Thank you for the help..

I made my own self feel like the idiot

the WP-CONFIG.PHP file is key. It points to the database. Without the database info, WP is lost. So next time you upgrade, make sure you preserve that file.

And yes, if your second blog runs off a different database/user, then you would have to create a wp-config.php file for that blog. To eliminate confusion, you can rename it while it’s on your hard drive, to something like wp-config.php-blog2. You can always rename it to wp-config.php once it’s uploaded to your server.

    This make sense?

I’m new at this wp stuff, and forgot that step completely! As soon as you mentioned the file, I literally smacked myself in the head!

I tried a few things.. wp-configts.php, it didn’t recognize it. Finally I just made a new directory for the new blog on my drive, changed the name back to wp-config.phg, and I’m finally good to go. I’ve uninstalled & reinstalled about 6 times, but I finally got it up. Now just have to find a theme.

Joni, thank you so very much.

No, you misunderstood me. The file has to be named wp-config.php on your server. But you can call it what you want on your hard drive, as long as you remember to name it appropriately when uploading it to the server.
