Multiple blogs already in WP 1.2?

  • I read, that the feature of multiple blogs is on the “to do list”. Means this, it is integreated already in 1.2? Or in a later version?
    [Multiple blogs = the feature like in b2evolution or MovableType to have postings of differnt blogs/categories on the blog frontpage in differnt parts of the frontpage.]

  • It’s not in 1.2 . It’s desired but not present. Implemented features are struck out from the to do list.

    So, where can we find the latest status? I’m eager for this thing to move forward. I’m waiting for the day when it offers more than MT so I can seriously consider moving. MT is great, but I don’t like the rebuilds. ??

    Movable Type has true multiple blogs. You can do the b2evo psuedo-multi-blog thing using categories in any version of WP after 1.0.
    This is a feature that is very much in the minds of the developers, and one of the ideas I have would allow you to combine multiple installations of WordPress (in the same DB, using different prefixes) into one. So do multiple WPs for now, and when the multilpe blog functionality comes you’ll be able to easily combine them.

    thats cool… future proof multiblog installation is a good idea…

    i’m new here so forgive my ignorance but are the items on the “to do” list specifically for 1.2 (which leads me to believe they have a LONG way to go before it’s released) or is it just a running list of things that may happen anytime in the future? my decision to move to wp from mt hinges on the multiple blog issue so i’d like to know if this will be included in 1.2 (without multiple installs).
    and is there a thread regarding the ETA on 1.2 release? i can’t seem to find it anywhere – i just see the usual “it’ll be done when its done” type of response. i’m considering moving to wp for some of my new and redesign projects and am wondering if i should try to push back the dates so i can build on 1.2 from from the start.

    companies like microsoft cant keep commitments, this is open source people! and nightlies are working pretty well. give it a go with a test installation and i am sure you would love it over MT.
