I had 15 activated plugins: About the Author Advanced, Akismet, Bad Behavior, BYOB Thesis Simple Header Widgets, Custom Permalinks, E-MAILiT Share Media Solutions and Analytics, Easy Contact Forms, Jetpack by wordpress.com, Limit Login attempts, MailChimp, Resize image after upload, Social Media Widget by Acurax, Under construction, WordPress SEO, WP Category Tag Cloud.
After applying a bulk plugin update, my entire site returned a ‘404 not found. The resource requested could not be found on this server!
There was an added message: Proudly sponsored by LiteSpeed Web Server (which is not my host).
After commencing deactivation of plugins one at a time to find problem I was locked out of site.
I was not able to access login page until the Easy Contact forms plugin folder was renamed to .old
The only plugins still activated are: About the Author advanced, Akismet, E-MAILiT Share Media Solutions and Analytics, Jetpack and MailChimp.
Apart from the homepage, my site is all 404 errors.
Backup of database and files has been done.
Any help would be most appreciated.

  • LiteSpeed is basically the technology that your webhost uses, it’s not a webhost itself.

What you can try to do is ftp(or cPanel) into your files and rename your plugin folders to deactivate them. Then activate them one at a time to find the source of the issue.

Thank you HostAwesome. That has been done and unfortunately no improvement. Any other suggestions?

    Perhaps try changing permalinks?

Thanks again HostAwesome. I forwarded your suggestion to my IT consultant earlier in the week and have just sent a reminder. I’m reluctant to get in there and play around with it myself, especially when that’s what got me into trouble in the first place! I’ll keep you posted on the outcome.

Thank you HostAwesome. After updating WP, resetting permalinks, and updating/reactivating plugins one at a time, finally the blog is back with no errors. Really appreciate your input in getting this resolved. #WillNeverBulkUpdateAgain
