• I am setting up multiple networks and it seems to be going ok for the primary network. The second network is in place and the subdomains are being created and I can see the front end. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to login to the dashboard of the sub-domains on the second network. I am unable to make any setting changes, add posts or make any addititons to those subdomains on the second network. I can edit the main domain that the second network is based on but no others. I have no issue with the primary network.

I am stuck at the login page which just refreshes after accepting the login / password.

  • It shouldn’t even be asking you to login again.

what’s the url to your site?

    • Might sound obvious, but are they on the same server and hosting?
    • Did your hosts set up wildcard subdomains for only the primary network?
    • Is your primary network in hosting root, but secondary network in a folder below that?

Now the important question – you say you can see the frontend of the sub-blogs on the secondary network, but are you seeing only the theme templates, or are you seeing content you created as well?

There’s a bunch of different answers depend on those questions.

Did you delete the WP install.php file after the install / upgrade ? If not it will cause login to just keep recycling the credentials screen.

This is completely bogus information. As I have told you previously, you do not need to delete any WP core files after installing.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have figured it out after trying all sorts of things and re-reading numerous posts. It was ridiculously simple…

I removed the www. from the second network’s primary domain. After that I was able to login to the dashboard of that domain’s subdomains without issue and add content. The primary network’s primary domain can have the www. in it’s url but not in the secondary network.

So my setup is a dedicated server running plesk as the management tool. Wildcards are setup automatically by plesk so I don’t have to mess with anything. The domains are aliases of the primary domain where I did the initial install.

So currently I have 2 networks and 8 domains running 11 sites.

1st network has 7 domains and 1 subdomain
2nd network has 1 domain and 2 subdomains
