• Hello!

I am migrating one of my client’s high traffic multi-language websites to WordPress. I would like to ask, what are some of best practices regarding WordPress settings, plugins (preferably free ones) and structure in regard of the multi-language setup… I am not afraid to touch the code, if that is the best way to do it ??

Only the frontend needs to be multilingual, the translations are made manually (not with Google Translate or similar solutions), there are some pages and blog posts which are not present on every language just on one, and there is a huge media library, which should be somewhat central for all 3 languages.

Thank you all for your replies!

    Cheers,
    Balint

The french adaption of the text brings more arguments to study.
As author of a free one multilingual plugin for single standalone WP install since 7 years, I know well the limits of each solutions (not unique because depending of content strategy).
For me, as I speech in several wordcamps, the most important thing is to keep integrity of post content and integrity of WP database architecture (post, custom post, taxonomy,..).
    Good work
