• Hi,

I hope this is the correct forum for my question.

I’m looking to use WP for a client’s ecommerce site. The one stumbling block is that he sells things to film production companies. They get a lower tax rate in California.

Does anyone know a way that, if someone checks a checkbox or something for this lower rate, to prevent the automatic processing of the order until my client verifies that the buyer is registered with the state to be eligible for the lower tax rate?

I need at least 2 tax rates on checkout and one would need to put the order on hold. Is this something that exists anywhere?

  • Of course ‘taxes included’ is allowed as long as they are paid, yes?

    Not sure what you mean.
Film production companies have to have a certificate on file so they get the lower rate.

If they make a purchase online at the lower rate, the transaction must be held (not processed) until the certificate is verified.

Otherwise, anyone could check the checkbox and pretend they’re a production company to try to get the lower rate.

Is there a way to put a transaction on hold?

What ecommerce (plugin) are you using? You should be asking on the forum for that plugin – and it sounds like this may require custom coding.

I’m not using anything yet. I just want to know if this is possible or of someone has had to something similar.
