Multi-Site Subdomains Glitch
-
We are running a new WP site using Multi-Site. The setup went very smoothly until we got this message:
Warning! Wildcard DNS may not be configured correctly!
The installer attempted to contact a random hostname (58b14b.goddessguide.com) on your domain. This resulted in an error message: cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: 58b14b.goddessguide.com; Name or service not known
To use a subdomain configuration, you must have a wildcard entry in your DNS. This usually means adding a * hostname record pointing at your web server in your DNS configuration tool.
You can still use your site but any subdomain you create may not be accessible. If you know your DNS is correct, ignore this message. We’ve tried a few things, but we are still unable to view any subdomains created. Every other aspect of the site is working and we are able to CREATE new subdomain pages, add themes for them, plugins, etc – – BUT – we cannot view any subdomain page. This is the error we get when attempting to VIEW a subdomain in our multi-site WordPress page:
This site can’t be reached
bellingham.goddessguide.com’s server DNS address could not be found. We are not sure what else to do?? Any suggestions? Should we delete all the code snippets added to wp-config etc and start over??
Thank you!
