We have defined a s2member multi-line text custom field in which our addresses are stored. We are not able to separate the address into street, city, state and zip without a great deal of difficulty and manual effort. The multi-line text address field displays perfectly as multiple lines on my profile page. However in the directory, it displays all on one line. The data actually does have a control character specifying the line breaks. Is there a way to specify to the Directory plug-in that the format of this data field is multiple text lines (as it is defined in our database)? I see you have other format options. Hopefully this can be added. If there is a snippet or css that you can recommend as a workaround let us know (although I am a novice in this area). We are running the latest version of WordPress and the plug-in. It shows the same on a tablet, phone (in landscape) and laptop. Thanks.

    Hello technoid28,

Thanks for alerting me to this issue. It may be possible to add a formatting option for line breaks. If you could please let me know what the control character is, I’ll see if it can be done and get back with you ASAP.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

The control character is a line feed. I will send you a copy of the text we load into our database as well as a notepad++ screen showing the control character.

Thanks technoid28, I received your email. For those reading this thread, the control character is a line break (\n), and fortunately this issue is easily fixed.

In the next DUD update I’ll include a new “multi-line” meta field format option that will translate line breaks into HTML so that it displays as expected.

    Regards,
    Sarah
