We have a site that needs to remain is a sub folder (ie: https://www.domainname.com/subfolder) the problem we have is when the permalink is set to page #, everything works but the home page. For some reason it considers it an archive page and pulls the archive template. If we change to any other permalinks it inserts a “en_US” in the middle of the domain name… BEFORE the sub folder. (ie: https://www.domainname.com/en_US/dev/page_id=1) and there is a 404 error the WP installation is actually in the dev folder.

When we try it in the public HTML it works just fine, but we need this site in the sub directory.

I have tried deactivating all plugins, used the 2014 theme and still had the same issue. It obviously is a permalink issue so I changed the permalinks and make sure the .htaccess did not have anything else in it. The permalink structure was correct (at least for WordPress).
