I am doing my first blog site (website is appeasingafoodgeek.com). I am just beginning in this complex world of websites and blogging. I love the Tracks theme, but I would like my heading to be two-toned (‘peas’ should be in green). Can you please point me to any hints on how to do this?

Thanks for using Tracks, and great site!

I want to be sure I understand you correctly before we move forward: you want to change ‘peas’ in the Site Title, “Appeasing a Food Geek”, to be green?

If that sounds right, let me know and we’ll come up with a solution ??

Yes…you have the request correct….I am a food geek, but i love Peas ?? So…”Appeasing a Food Geek” would be all white with the exception of peas which would be green.

    Thanks!

Great, you can upload & activate this Child Theme to change the “peas” part of your title to green.

Follow these steps to activate it:

    1. Visit your site’s dashboard
    2. Go to the Appearance menu
    3. Click on the “Add New” button at the top of the page
    4. Click on the “Upload Theme” button at the top of the page
    5. Click on the “Choose File” button
    6. Select the tracks-child.zip file you downloaded from the link above
    7. Click the blue “activate” link

Once that’s done, the title should now have the green text in it.

If you’d like to change the shade of green, you can use an online color picker tool like this to get a “hexadecimal code” for the color you want. Then, in your Appearance > Editor menu, you can change the current color code in the CSS to the new one you want used (current is #99BD4B).

One last thing, if you ever decide to upload a logo, remember to switch back to Tracks from Tracks Child.
