We updated to the latest version of Yoast today (14.0.4) on a multisite with 4 subsites. Yoast was network activated. All subsites are showing the “Yoast SEO was unable to create the database tables required and as such will not function correctly.” message. I had this crop up in 2 other unrelated sites on a different server. I had been able to get it to resolve by uninstalling, deleting and reinstalling Yoast. That is not doing the trick with this multisite. I found the Yoast Test Helper tool and installed that to the network and ran it for one of the sites to reset the indexables and then reinstalled Yoast for the network but there is no change, it continues to display the error message.

Is there something else we can do?

    Thank you!

    Hi @curlypinky,

    So sorry for the trouble!
It could be that your WordPress instance doesn’t have the right permissions. Create, drop, alter and index are generally needed for all tables. We might not create indexes for every table so some migrations might succeed without it.

If you’re not sure how to do that, or can’t, please follow the instructions here: https://yoast.com/help/cannot-create-database-tables/

Unfortunately yes the issue persists. The host reset the DB user permissions and we tried the Yoast tool, tried uninstalling from the network and reinstalling, set to allow individual sites to install the plugin vs a network activation. But we can’t seem to goose it into installing the DB tables it needs.

    Hi,

We would like some more information.

1.?To clarify, your database needs the Table and Index permissions along with Create, Drop, and Alter required to create these tables in your database: wp_yoast_indexable, wp_yoast_indexable_hierarchy, wp_yoast_migrations, wp_yoast_primary_term. If you are not sure, your host provider can help. We ask as some configurations need all those permissions rather than just a couple.

2.?Can you confirm your server has all the right requirements?? If you are not sure, speak to your host provider. This guide explains more:?https://kb.yoast.com/kb/plugin-requirements/.

3.?Are you running a windows server?

4.?Can you tell me which DB_CHARSET and DB_COLLATION are set in your wp-config.php? If you are not sure, your host provider can help.
