    hello there!

i hope i’m in the right part of the support forum, if not i apologize and kindly like to ask to please direct me to the right place, thank you!

I have a wordpress multisite running, recently changed the domain of it. Still can’t access to my website, lot of research now makes me think it might be because of permalinks.
Wanted to disable permalinks via database (since no access to dashboard) but don’t know where to look for it (and actually how to disable them once i found them) in my sql tables?

Any thoughts and ideas are hugely appreciated!

    Thanks a lot,
    Aileen

  • When you move a site or change the domain, you must replace the old URLs and paths with the new ones. Some of these are stored in the database in ‘serialized’ form where the string length is stored along with the string. You must use special tools to search and replace the old values with the new ones.

If you replace an old URL with a new one of a different length, it will break the serialization, causing many different problems.

You should be able to use this tool to change the old domain to the new one: https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

Make sure you have a backup of the database first!!

    Hey!

Thanks for the reply, really appreciate your time and the awesome link!

Unfortunately, i think i already messed up my database by trying out different ideas and proposals. ?? But well, that’s how you learn, right? Try and fail and try again. ??
Will do it again from scratch.

    Thanks a lot though!
    Cheers,
    Aileen
