mplite product category widget broken

On my https://www.fly-fishing-colorado.com site, I was running the product category widget in the sidebar with the virtue theme and set to a drop down. Set this way, clicking on the category does nothing. There is no interaction. If I set it to show a list, the categories work.
On my test site https://www.fly-fishing-colorado.com/flyshopnew/, with the product categories widget set to a drop down and with the Unite or with the Virtue theme, I get 404 not found errors. With it set to a list, I still get 404 errors.
I am pretty sure when I was testing this plugin last summer, the product categories sidebar widget worked in dropdown or in list format with virtue, unite, twenty ten and twenty twelve.
