• Hi Jacob,

Is it possible to check the .mp4 upload script? I tried to upload a .mp4 like the way you have mentioned in the description, allthough it won’t work.

Is it possible to search for another way to add mp4’s? Maybe without having to create a picture with the same name as the mp4? Because I think has to be done to get a kind of thumbnail to be used as view for the mp4? Maybe there are otherways? Maybe I can figure out something smart for you to use.

Cheers Jacob, keep up the good work!

If the upload fails without a descriptive errormessage, it is most likely that the server limits are set too narrow. See the Photo Albums -> Upload Photos admin page: the yellow info box: max MB’s per file and max upload time in seconds.

The easiest way to add videos is using the Photo ALbums -> Import Photos admin page.
First use an ftp program like filezilla to upload the files to your ‘depot’ folder – ususually …/wp-content/wppa-depot/your-username/ – then open the import page and select albums and files to import. You can import a possible ‘poster’ image file and the video at the same time. You need to select the album for photos as well as for video’s.
If present, preferrably use the ‘Start Ajax import’ button.
There are virtually no time and size limits using the import screen.

You do not really need ‘poster’ files (.jpgs with the same name), but loading a jpg photo or thumbnail is always faster than loading (a part of) a video file, althoug ‘preload=”metadata”‘ is used. So having them is just for speeding up the page.

See also: https://wppa.nl/docs-by-subject/admin-pages/import-photos/ for more info about the import procedure.
