    Hello there,

    Recipient have informed us that they are receiving their MP3 newsletters twice.
    One addressed to their first name and one addressed to Reader.

    I am using this snippet [subscriber:firstname | default:Leser]

    Is it possible to set the option (after the pipe character) to ‘nothing displayed’ in case the first name (optional) was not filled in perhaps.

    Or perhaps someone can point me to something else causing mail to be sent twice.

    Thank you much,
    Mark

  • Hi Mark,

    Without the pipe character and the default you’d just have a space.

    For example say you had;

    Hi, [subscriber:firstname]

    If no first name was supplied that would output;

    Hi, . (where the period counts as the space, just did that to illustrate it. ??

    Though either way this shouldn’t be causing the emails to be sent twice. Please contact us via (https://www.mailpoet.com/support/wordpress-forums/) and we’d be happy to further investigate.

    Thanks!

    Hello and thank you for prompt response.

    You are right, if I try the ‘period’ option, I’d have to two mails go out, one to ‘period’ and one to first name.

    Thank you I will gladly contact you as instructed.
