• Hi all…

A friend of mine is having a heckuva time with her WP site. The lady who first built it refused to give her access to the DB, but eventually sent her the DB file. Another friend was to move it to a different server, but after having failed once, gave up and said good luck.

I’ve never moved one before. So, I’m begging for help, having been tossed into the middle of this with a capital “C” on my forehead for clueless.

He sent me a link to view the site (such as is) here….(to view the site before the domain resolves he said)
    https://74.86.84.210/~snare72/
    if you click on wp/
    you get
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare trackback_rdf() (previously declared in /home/snare72/public_html/wp/wp-includes/comment-template.php:747) in /home/snare72/public_html/wp/wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 2515
he said he had some errors due to the naming of the database.

I don’t have the db file at the moment (the original), but i do have the entire ftp of her site on my computer.

where do i go from here? I’m really good at following directions..just point me where to go!

    thanks so much, really!!!!

    carrie

Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

    Thanks James… I currently only have access to that page I posted above, the old FTP information and the new servers cpanel. when I checked under phpmyadmin> wp options> active plugins….it’s already set to a:0:{}

i changed the theme name, and nothing happened.

any other thoughts? i’m bordering on desperation here….=)

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download.

will i lose all the posts?

    (@macmanx)

No, your posts are safe in the database. You’re just replacing the core files.

    https://74.86.84.210/~snare72/wp/
which appears to be basically the site without a theme? and no posts…although the title is there..

Go to Settings/General in the admin panel and change the two URLs to https://74.86.84.210/~snare72/wp

If you can’t access the admin panel, you’ll have to access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel) and manually change the siteurl and home values to https://74.86.84.210/~snare72/wp

My apologies for not having been able to try this yet! I’m not able to access the admin panel, nor the phpadmin at the moment, as someone has changed the password…I’ll let you know if I get it resolved though!

    thank you for your patience!
