• I am in the process of moving several blogs from one host to another, it has not been an easy task.

Backing up database files using DB backup is fine, but when I go to “Import” them using phpmyadmin it hasnt worked too well.

The import feature would be great but it’s a 2mb max file size, is that adjustable? if so where do you adjust the max file size? I would love to be able to import a file throught the dashboard if it would work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • The 2mb max file size is set in your php.ini file. If you’re on shared hosting you probably won’t be able to change it. The easiest way to transfer a larger DB is using the command prompt. Do you have shell access? If not, you could either zip the file (if it isn’t already) or export/import tables individually.

    Another excellent solution is bigdump:

We have used this on numerous occasions with good results.
