    Hi,

I recently started a new wordpress site hosted on Byethost’s free service. I have now set up paid hosting with TSOHost and installed WP on there too. I want to move my blog from Byethost to TSO but I don’t really understand the best way to do this.

The domain name will be staying the same.

I now have a login for my Byethost hosted blog and my TSO hosted blog…

    Any help much appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: sorry, I’m sure there have been lots of posts about this but I can’t find anything that explains what I need to do and why in simple terms! ??

Thanks. So basically do I upload all the old files from Byethost to my new host, but keep the wp-config.php file the same? As my new host has already created one of those for itself with the new details.

    Hi Joseph,

Along with backing up your front end files, you’ll also have to backup your database. These are two separate parts that make up your WordPress installation.

Then, on your new host you’ll have to create a new MySQL database that you can use for your new WordPress installation.

The link that esmi provided, Moving_WordPress, should help you out quite a bit. If you have any specific questions, just give us a shout!

Thanks for the help guys. Although I ended up giving up and just remaking the blog as there was hardly anything on it yet anyway. Thanks anyway!

I guess that would do the trick, too! Glad to hear that you got it figured out.
