I am not technical so apologies up front if this sounds stupid but I have a problem.

I have a domain and website host with hosting company A. The website became a dogs breakfast (too many users and many error 404’s etc.)and the users agreed to pull it down. All posts, plugins, etc were removed and company A pulled it down.

I now want to move the hosting to Company B (domain remains with company A).

My question is this. When I start the new WP blog site with company B will it be a fresh start (i.e. a blank canvas) or will all the problems from the site when it was with with Company A come across in the transfer?

  • Do you intend to import the old database from site A into site B?

Not sure what you mean by old database but in reply I would like to start with a clean slate, as though it were a first time WordPress installation with absolutely nothing coming over from the old site.

    Hope this makes sense

If you install a clean wordpress then you should not have any problems as everything is saved in database and you will be having new database.

The only problem may arise is if you have any old urls that are indexed they all will give a 404
