I know there are a ton of posts about this but I’m still confused. This will be my first time moving hosts and I am terrified that I will do something wrong so please bare with me. I’ve done a Google search and there are so many different ways to move your WordPress blog; there’s even a website offering to transfer your blog in 5seconds for only $97…

What I’ve done so far is downloaded my entire directory for my blog. It took a long time and the final size is like 450 MB. I’ve also exported my posts, comments, using the export and backed up my DB via the dababase back up plugin. My question is do I still have to back up my database using the phymyadmin in my web host’s control panels?

So I basically have a https://www.shoe.com hosted on “HOST A”

I registered with “HOST B” and created a new directory “www.shoe.com”

Do I basically just upload the 450 MB of data into that directory? Or do I have to install WordPress again on the new web host “HOST B”.

Thank you in advance for your help.

By the way, I currently have WP 2.5 I think. I don’t want to upgrade to 3.1 yet because I’m afraid it might not be compatible with some of my plugins and might also mess up the appearance of my website…
