• Hi there,

I’ve recently installed/set up a new WordPress website but I’m having trouble in regards to editing the theme.

    https://www.jackpotjoy-promotions.co.uk/wordpress/untitled.GIF

I require what I paste into the post’s input box, to be alligned at the top and to the left.

I’m unsure as to where I’m meant to edit the template, and what part of this code to tweak.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

    Tony.

  • Your theme only allows the content to be so wide before it will “break” the theme and force the content down below your sidebar. Your graphic is probably too big.

    Hi, thanks.

Where do I need to edit the theme to arrange where I want the content to sit?

At the moment it’s in the wrong place, not simply because the graphics too big.

The top left of the content is appearing half way down the page.

You don’t need to edit the theme, unless you insist on using the large graphics in your post.

Here is how a theme works:

It puts all of your post content into something called the “wide_column” and the sidebar goes into the “narrow_column”. These columns are a specific size. If you try to put something into the columns that is larger than their specified size, its like putting a grand piano in a gift bag. It will bust out the seams and nothing will be where you want it.

You have two options, from easy to hard:

    1. Post smaller graphics that aren’t wider than your “wide_column” value found in your stylesheet.css.

    2. Rebuild your theme so that your entire “wide_column” is larger and can fit those large graphics.

Do you know where abouts I need to change the wide column reference, in what file? Will this be one instance or many?

    Thanks a lot.

    Anyone, please?!

You could try switching to the classic theme as it fills the entire screen with the post contents.
